PAS 1192-2 (a Publicly Available Specification) sets out requirements for Building Information Modelling (BIM) and builds on the code of practice for information produced from architectural, engineering and construction activities. It focuses on project delivery with data and documents being obtained from design and construction activities.
QAICL provides certification for this Government backed initiative for UK and EU based companies operating within the UK construction industry.
PAS 91 is a standard pre-qualification questionnaire. It was developed to avoid suppliers having to complete different pre-qualification questionnaires in bidding for projects with different clients. Those clients include Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Government Agencies and other private and public developers). Such organisations will require pre-qualification questionnaires to be in this standard format. It is mandatory for public sector buyers to pre-qualify construction suppliers.
A BIM Management System can be established to meet the requirements of PAS 1192-2:2013 (and PAS91:2013 pre-qualification questionnaire). If you do not have a BIM management system, it can be implemented as part of an ongoing internal process. Alternatively, implementation can be though a consultant recognised through the BIM Scheme Partnership. The Scheme consists of local authorities, funding agencies and education providers).
Alternatively, BIM certification can also be achieved by using the structured approach of QAICL’s BIM Staged Certification Scheme™. This has been developed to assist clients to progress at their own pace through incremental assessment stages to full certification to PAS 1192-2.
This cost effective scheme comprises four stages to ensure that all elements of the BIM standard are developed. Each stage is followed by a stage audit to ensure that the elements of each stage are checked for compliance. A staged scheme certificate is issued after each successful stage audit.
At the end of the scheme, subject to a final certification audit to check for compliance with the entire standard, a full accredited certificate will be issued. As with all standards, the accredited certificate will be valid for one year and to maintain certification, there will be annual audits to ensure continued compliance with the standard.
